I'm Jo, the creative founder of Joanna Hughes Interiors.
Having been a primary school teacher for 20 years, I was lucky enough to pursue my creative dreams and retrain as an interior designer at the renowned KLC School of Design. Today, I bring the same care, empathy, and passion I had as a teacher into every design project. My experience has taught me that great spaces don’t just look amazing; they support wellbeing, spark joy, and make daily life feel easier. Helping people create those spaces is my greatest passion.
I believe interior design should be as accessible and enjoyable as it is beautiful. I’ve created a local, friendly studio committed to transforming your spaces to reflect your unique style with the space you have and the budget you can afford.
Sustainability is at the heart of my design approach. Wherever possible, I help you make the most of what you already own—refreshing, rethinking, and re-styling pieces so you don’t spend unnecessarily. I love incorporating treasured items into new schemes, giving them pride of place in a way that feels intentional and inspired. Through thoughtful upcycling and mindful choices, we create considered spaces that feel personal, purposeful, and kind to the planet.
I team up with trusted trades people to ensure projects run smoothly and make your dreams a reality, with guidance, fresh ideas, knowledge and expertise.
